MAK Surfcasting designs, manufactures, and delivers worldwide, the highest quality, and the most durable line of gear and apparel for the serious angler.

The MAK brand was created 3 years ago to satisfy the needs of surfcasters from Maine to North Carolina. They were looking for that perfect bag, but it didn't exist. Dave Rose is just one of thousands of dedicated sport fishermen who venture out into the waves, climb onto their favorite rock, or swim out to the best sand bar in pursuit of the elusive striped bass.

The gear they use, and the bags they carry to store and protect that favorite old plug, or the newest hand made creation from the talented plug makers of New England, must be durable, practical, and easy to use. It must perform under extreme conditions, and survive season after season of sun, salt, and abuse. In the small shop behind his home, Dave set out to create just such a product.

The design begins with the the right fabric. It must be light weight, yet incredibly strong. It must be resistant to breakdown from UV, and constant exposure to salt water. It must have a thread count, and weave tight enough to resist the inadvertent snag from a hook as plugs are pulled from or returned to the bag while standing chest deep in seawater in the dark of night. Fortunately, for fishermen, the sail making industry has provided the perfect solution. Dacron sailcloth has met all these test and passed with flying colors. The fabric is stiff, difficult to work with and a challenge to sew, but end result is the bag that Dave Rose and every serious surfcaster has been waiting for. Our thread is also an important component of the bag. We use a bonded polyester thread known for it's high strength, stability in sunlight, and resistance to heat, abrasion, salt-water and mildew. This thread has set the industry standard in sail making, and canvas sewing for decades.

It has taken two years to find the right machines to handle the materials and thicknesses incorporated in the MAK bag. It has taken two years to find a local facility that employed craftsman skilled enough to handle the assembly of the MAK bag to the standards that Dave demands. We now have this facility, here in Massachusetts, working full time to ensure a steady supply of MAK bags, in all sizes, will be available to our customers. The relationship between MAK Surfcasting, and the management and workers of our manufacturing facility has played a major role in guaranteeing that the MAK bag you purchase from our WEB site will be of the same quality, and made with the same techniques of reinforcement, extra back stitching and consistency that you found in the original bags that Dave made in his shop. With each new size, or new product that we offer, Dave sits at a machine, side by side, with the professionals who are making our bags and takes them step by step through the process to guarantee that you will receive an authentic Dave Rose designed MAK bag.

All of our materials are made in America, all of our design work is still done by Dave, and all of our bags are assembled, sewn, and shipped to you from our facility right here in Massachusetts. We are a company that believes that "MADE IN AMERICA" means quality, consistency, and control over the entire process from start to finish, and we stand behind every product we offer.
